Downtown Toronto’s Honda and Yamaha dealer. We service all makes and models
of motorcycles and scooters.
We are a licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) and perform Ontario safety certificate inspections on site by our licensed mechanics.
No project is too big or too small. From an oil change to an engine rebuild we can do it all.
GETTING YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
Motorcycle licensing in Ontario operates under a graduated system, similar to the G class most of us are familiar with for driving a car.
You start with getting an M1. The M1 is a multiple choice written test that you can write at any Service Ontario testing centre. We suggest you study the Motorcycle Handbook as well as the Driver’s Handbook in advance of taking the test. The M1 does review road signs, rules of the road and details of G graduated licensing you may not know (or have forgotten). Many customers tell us that the section of the test dealing with rules of the road gives them the most trouble!
You are legal to ride as soon as you pass the M1 test. Congratulations! Your M1 is valid for 90 days, with some restrictions. Within the 90 day window you need to either book a road test at a Drive Test Centre or take an approved Motorcycle Safety Course. These weekend courses are great fun, and we highly recommend them! Once you pass the road test, or safety course, you will have your M2 and almost all the restrictions on the M1 are a distant memory!
After 18 to 22 months (up to 5 years) you are eligible to book your final road test at a Drive Test Centre and get your full M.
There is a LSM (Limited Speed Motorcycle License) as well. This is for people that wish to be licensed only for 50cc scooters. The process is the same as described above, except you end up with an LSM license instead of M.
